Rosie O’Donnell is switching coasts.

In Florida.

In June, the native New Yorker bid farewell to Miami when she sold her fabulous Star Island, waterfront compound for $16.5 million. But with winter approaching, O’Donnell has scored a new Sunshine State vacation home.

Welcome to the Gulf Coast, Rosie!

The comedian/actress/producer/mom and social media maven just closed on a 4,667-square-foot, 4-bedroom, 7-bathroom home that backs onto the white sand and crystal blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The home had been originally listed in 2011 for $6.7 million, but after several price drops, including the last list price of $5.8 million, Rosie is said to have paid just under $5 million.

Now the O’Donnell clan will have a new “West Coast” place to for their Jet Skis and motorboats.

The home on Casey Key Rd. in Nokomis, FL was built in 1998 and renovated in 2009, and has an open floor plan and French doors to accentuate the sumptuous beach views, not to mention the private pool and outdoor lounging and eating areas. (There are currently 346 homes for sale in Nokomis, FL).

The listing notes mention the property’s “impeccable attention to architectural detail … including imported Waterworks plumbing fixtures, imported French oak floors, tongue and groove ceilings, custom wood working details and custom-built cabinetry, detailed light fixtures, custom plantation shutters and unique tile and marble work throughout.’’

It’s pretty easy to picture Rosie, her partner and her kids hanging out at their new digs, given Rosie’s propensity to share via Twitter and Instagram the daily activities of her brood.

According to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, O’Donnell stumbled onto her new Florida home by accident when she was actually looking to buy a “certain kind of Jeep.” Sarasota real estate agent Jill Friedman responded via Twitter that she could help, and when Rosie mentioned that she was also looking for a second home, Friedman urged Rosie to come visit Sarasota. The rest is history.

Now Rosie can bring on the Twitter pix of the her clan building sandcastles on their very own beach.
